THE DAILY DROP-IN (aka Wookie’s Speakeasy!) Pt. 4

I’ve realised that we really need a post where we can just chat, catch up, shoot the breeze, chew the fat, jaw, rabbit on, natter, warble, prattle on or just plain old discuss with well thought out considered points of view the odd thoughts that occur to any of us at any given time.

Naturally this includes a place where you can just mess around for a laugh ….. so I am going to grab myself a coffee from the pot, feel free help yourself and join me if you wish… all contributions welcome! 😁….

  1. So my first thought of the day…. how is everyone coping with the incredible summer we are having so far? This is especially true on the part of the UK… it’s awesome and the kids haven’t broken up for the summer holidays yet! ….. so what’s it like where you are? 🇬🇧☀️😎

      Not that I myself would partake in such a thing……😁
      Uh yep…Summer…been hot..hot….hot so far but hey..no moaning. It will probably be another 40 years before we see the like again.
      Oh….and our kids have been off for nearly two weeks already!

      2. I had a real shock when i Came out of school 3 Years back and i was told i had to book off holidays instead of the six week stint i was used too! 😁 they said something along the lines of “Its the real world now” 😂 *sighs*

          6. We have a running joke in our nursery that getting a child to help clean up is as useful as a chocolate tea pot as they just pull it all out behind you!

            So Wooks do you clean up after her or pull it all out again!!?😂

  4. Just curious Elliemay you always talk about Bushmills; but, how does it compare to Tullamore D.E.W. or Jameson? Also which is your favorite Irish Cream? I prefer St. Brendans.

    Summer break for kids in the U.S.A. in the south start at the end of May or beginning of June. They start back mid August. It seems to get shorter every year for breaks.

      Just so you know Em will see your question tomorrow as we are anything from 5-8 hrs ahead of yourselves over the pond and she’s already gone for the night!
      A quick response from me would be Bushmills and Jameson’s and the Creams I’ll leave to EM.
      Wow your holidays are longer than England’s which are only approx 6-7 weeks.

      Ah yes…the good old Bushmills! Well to be honest I like all the Irish Whiskeys. The standing joke with Bushmills started in a kinklet if my memory serves me well. I believe I smuggled in a bottle or something of that nature…😂😂
      Now…which do I prefer? Hmmm….I really like Jamesons but I do love the Bushmills 16. It is a bit pricey so not for every day. I find the Bushmills warm and soft…and goes down easy in comparison to some of the Scottish Whiskeys which are smokier? Would that be the right word? Of course, they are excellent too just in case anyone thinks I’m knocking them…😂
      It’s all a matter of personal preference. Whatever suits your own taste.
      I like a whiskey neat…..sacrilegious to be messing about spoiling them with mixers. Just my opinion. 😊
      As for the Irish Creams…..has to be Baileys for me.

          3. I Just fainted at the thought of pancakes for breakfast!! Let alone with bacon 🥓😂 Too sugary for the morning!!!! I’ve only had them (yes Wooks, with maple syrup yummm) on pancake day or at the desert diner!

    1. Ohhhh my god! Yes you are absolutely right Shannon. I can’t eat our English pancakes now not after your awesome blueberry ones! Plus eating them for breakfast…… what way to start the day. !!

      I agree with you Carrie we tend to eat them later in the day or Pancake day but I love the American style of having them for breakfast….. without meat though!! 😂

          1. My guess is American ones are bigger and thicker?
            My kids LOVE pancakes for breakfast. But I only tend to make them on weekends.
            Have to admit…..they are a bit much for me in the morning..

        2. Carrie our pancakes are are more like crepes yes? Very thin .
          American ones are much thicker up to 1/2 inch thick and a light almost cake texture. With blueberries they’re awesome. 😁

          2. Yup they are thin, although when i have them, mine are thicker like the american type, but that because I’m coeliac and it has different ingredients! It sounds good though and yes blueberries in the mix sounds super yummy… I’ve never cooked mine, always shop bought, but I may have to try it with the blueberries, if I can get my ingredients! 😋

        1. Yea it sure was, we do it in style and aren’t too shy to make a point! From what i heard there are mixed views on what trump thinks of it!!! The bbc haven’t really commented and I don’t tend to go by what other news reports say!

Trying not to be a complaining farmer but cant help it…OMG girls, 33,6 degrees celcius in the shadow here, its eh… a little bit much…🙄 Has been over 25 for a long time and it will be around 30 for ten days says the forecast. (Starts rain dancing in very slow slowmotion.😓 ) we have a class 2 warning here now.

      1. Good to see you Wookie! Aaww, Shannons super sweet making blueberry pancakes for you for a month! Thats very yummy, I love pancakes for breakfast!
        You are right the weather feels unreal! Its warnings for extreme weather that can cause danger. This time it is a warning for extreme heat several days in a row. Over 33 degrees max temp for more than three days or over 30 for more than 5 days. I think its because it can harm kids , elderly people and animals. We are not used to it in this country, LOL.

    1. Ha, if we had temps like that we wouldn’t cope… i picture, schools shut, water ban, icream frenzie and hopefully no work either! 🤔 so basically how we cope with a few mm of snow 😂

    1. Thanks Wookie, hugging you back my friend, we are ok! But it sure is scary, the fires are everywhere and bigger than we have ever had here. Not in our farm yet and keeping fingers crossed it wont. But so sorry for those whose forests and homes are burning. 😢And the weather is just getting hotter. We are not used to it here… We are very grateful to all the firefighters from abroad helping us amd risking their lives. But its worse in Greece where ppl have died !😢. It made me worry about Alex and Anastasia. If they see this please tell if you are ok!
      How is your countries Wooks and Shannon? I heard the US had a lot of brutal fires too! How is Utah? I do hope all is well with Shannon and you.

      1. Shannon and I are definitely glad to hear you are all ok. We have our fingers crossed for you and everyone there. We sincerely hope it all dies down as soon as possible. The weather this year is freakish to be honest. Here in the UK we’ve had a few fires burning causing massive problems with fire services across the country supporting. I was actually driving past a farmers field and saw one field erupt into flames as the tractor caused a spark. % hours later the entire farm had gone but the family and animals were safe! thank goodness. I know in Utah there are some wildfires burning as elsewhere in the States.
        Yes we are good now. Shannon had a scare the other week as she was taken into the ER with a suspect heart attack. It turned out to be takotsubo cardiomyopathy also known as ‘broken heart syndrome’. A part of the heart goes out of sync and swells. All indications are an attack. However I’m pleased to say she is doing ok. Just needs to rest up and avoid stress at all costs! I’ve never felt the distance between us to be so far as it was then but its all good so we are still smiling! 😁
        You make sure you all keep safe Robin and look after each other ok?. Hugging you all.

        1. OMG, the field catching fire in front of you! How terrifying, and Im so sorry for the people who lost their home and all their farm… but happy the people and animals survived.I will soon have to harvest and i fear it because of the risk of causing sparks with the threshing machine. They say thrre might come rain this weekend and i really really hope for it both here and in Britain, Utah, Greece, and all the other burning places. I saw pics of english brown lawns….so weird! And here too, summers “always” green. Well we fucked up the climate finally.

          Im so happy Shannon is doing ok now! It must have been a huge scare and horrible to be apart. Stress can be very dangerous, im happy you have each other, are still smiling, and take care of each other.🙂 Hope you soon are together too. We will take care too, and look after each other, thanks my friend!😊 lots of hugs to you both!

  14. Thanks Wookie! We are trying not to worry ALL the time but enjoying the heat too going to the lake to swim with the kids a lot.
    August 14, thats quite soon in days but im sure it feels long, hang in there Wooks and Shannon! Maybe you can do a prank every day to make time go faster..?😋

    1. Ducking to the side just in time, EM turns and watches as the custard pie hits the glass display cabinet containing the favourite implements of a certain Top.
      She watches as the custard runs slowly down the glass and turns back to grin at Wookie..
      Ooh Wooks….you’ve done it now…😂😈
      Then grabbing a beer bottle, she shakes it vigorously, pops the top and points it in Wookie’s direction…😈

  19. Uh EM I thought you knew the display case there does not contain the actual implements of SWMBO because they are holographic images. I thought you knew that EM or couldja not see that clearly? Wouldja like a leg up so you can see over the lip of the cabinet? 😈😈 I know how small leprechauns are….them being called the wee folk that is!
    *Seeing the beer spraying her way Wookie whipped out her light sabre that doubled into a shield covering her just in the nick of time and deflecting all the foamy, sticky beer back over to soak EM with. Laughing she looked around seeing what else was about to chuck at EM….Carrie…..where are ya? Wookie yelled I need help here please*

  20. Carrie noticed that poor Wookie had well and truely been stiched up. Coming to her aid, Carrie grabbed a vanilla cheese cake. Creeping up and hiding behind the wall for both protection and advantage in being inconspicuous, she aimed her pie and threw it in EllieMay’s direction! 😈😈😝😜

  21. Wookie gave an evil grin watching as the cheesecake in all its potentially sticky, messy glory headed towards Em. She couldn’t wait to see a cheesecake covered EM jumping up and down in full Irish jig fury! Ha! Gotcha ! 😈

    1. EM’s eyes widened as she watched the cheesecake fly through the air in her direction.
      She quickly turned, grabbed a bowl of tomotoes from the counter and dived in behind the glass cabinet. She grinned to herself. Instant cover!
      She reached back and pulled her trusty slingshot from her back pocket. Loading it quickly with her “ammo” she pulled back, aimed and launched a tomato first in Carrie’s direction and then wasting no time, she reloaded and fired again, this time towards Wookie.
      Reaching for yet more ammo she looked down and saw wee donkey in her absolute element, happily cleaning up the remnants of the failed cheesecake launch…..😈

  22. Carrie dived back into the safety of the wall and dragged Wookie with her. She thrust an odd looking water gun in Wookie’s arms.

    “Have no fear Wooks, I have a plan. We’ll batter her back with these!! ”

    Carrie whispered her plan to wookie, explaining that the Gun actually contained many eggs for them to pelt in EM direction, it also cracks the eggs so there are no egg shell incidents.

    Carrie then pointed to the rigged flour boobie trap she had constructed previously when her sneaking suspisions led to the gut feeling that EM would be up to someting. Unfortunately for EM but fortunately for them EM now proudly stood right beneath it 😈

    Wookie looked from EM, to the flour to the Egg Machine and back to EM, they could literally batter EM… thick sticky batter… quite the recipe… 😝😝

    1. Wookie was seriously impressed with Carrie’s ingenious setup. Taking careful aim she pulled on the trigger and a steady stream of pure raw eggs flew perfectly through the air covering Em from head to toe with the slimy mix. 🥚🥚🥚
      As Wookie continued to fire, Carrie grabbed the remote she had linked to the flour booby trap, hit the code causing the safety catch to release the string which held the sack closed. With a gentle whoosh Em was now covered in flour that was rapidly sticking to the egg mix. 😝
      Luckily the first shot of eggs had caused Em to cover her eyes so when she did finally open them she vaguely resembled something from Scooby Doo like the famous Batter Monster! Quick as a flash Wookie took a snapshot for the blog family album…. You can never let an opportunity like that to pass…. 📸

      Wookie and Carrie high-fived pleased with their result! Then ran for cover !
      ..🏃🏻‍♀️..💭..🏃🏻‍♀️..💭. 😈😈

      1. EM, rendered temporarily speechless, simply stood dripping in batter and staring as her fellow brats took off running to cover.
        Recovering a bit from the shock she yelled…… “WOOOOKKKIEEEEEEEEEE!!!! CARRRRIIIEEEEEEEE!!!!!! You pair of feckers are for it!!
        Running outside, closing and locking the door of the blog she grabbed the hose and quickly washed off as much of the slimy batter as she could. Then a thought struck her.
        Looking up, she grinned. Bingo!!
        Placing the long ladder against the side of the wall, she grabbed the hose and precariously climbed the ladder. Tucking the hose in front between herself and the wall, she reached up and pulled off the cover of the square air vent. Reaching into her pocket she took out a small bottle of hot pink food colouring and poured it all into the nozzle.
        Then reaching into her other pocket, she took out a bottle of washing up liquid and squirted a few drops of that into the nozzle. Looking at the bottle thoughtfully……EM grinned. “Ah, what the feck.”
        She leaned over and poured the entire contents of the washing up liquid into the nozzle of the hose. Then she set the hose to “jet” spray and shoved it through the air vent.
        EM yelled through the vent….. “HEY GIRLS!! THOUGHT YA MIGHT WANNA GET CLEANED UP!!
        Climbing down the ladder, she ran and turned on the hose. Back up the ladder again, she could already hear the shrieks coming from inside. Grinning, she peered in through the vent and squealed in delight as the bright pink foam poured into the blog, the jet spray doing its job and covering her fellow brats who now were beginning to resemble two giant marshmallows.
        Slipping and sliding, helped along by the copious amounts of washing up liquid, Wookie and Carrie unsuccessfully tried to make their way to the door covered in the pink foam. EM roared with laughter.
        ” HEY WOOKIE! ” she yelled…… “I KEEP TELLIN YA PINK IS YER COLOUR!!!”

          1. Hey Robin. Yes it was scary, I am used to health issues, but none like that. It did not help the doctor in the ER was a Jerk and gave me misinformation. I have since seen my regular doctors and it is all situated. How are you doing? I have been following your weather and have seen how hot it is for you guys. Here in Utah we are use to those temperatures but I know you are not. You guys stay safe. Hugs to you and your wife and tell I say hi.

  24. Oh Shannon that must be horrible to get the wrong informstion and be treated wrongly in such a scary situation.🙁 Im glad you got your regular doctor eventually and it went well. Its terrible to be in the hands of someone you cant trust.
    About the weather :-Thanks Shannon, we are ok. Its still very hot ( for a Swede…) but we have had a little rain and i think the about 80 large fires we had are down to 10 in the country. Im my previous hometown the rain came so quickly and abundant the central train station was flooded. Being a university town, of course the students started paddling around having races with rubber rafts and inflatable toys among the escalators and ticket boots😂🤣😂. Got to love my old town 😍🤩 I wished i was there, but …perhaps it was as good not to, cause the police stopped it . The electricity in the station could cause danger they said. Go figure… 🤔

      Thinking its tooo silent in the blog, Robin grabs a big bottle in her kitchen and runs giggling towards the blog. She suspiciously opens a door veeery carefully… GASPS at seeing a bucket with obviously disgusting content tilting over her head! She flattens herself as much as possible and squeezes herself in without triggering the trap. -Phew!
      With an excited grin she starts spreading a layer of very slippery liquid soap over the floor. She hides under a table and waits for the show to begin… Starts munching cookies and hopes the brilliant engineer of the bucket trap will join her!😁

    2. Returning from yet another shopping trip to pick up essentials for the very long awaited trip to the States Wookie decided to stop off and grab a cold beer on the blog. Planning on writing the next part of the Irish Wedding she ran through the plot lines already decided on.
      Opening the door she stepped in……..to be totally covered in a glitter storm!!!🤩💥🌈🌟🌈🌟… Taking a moment to work out what the heck was going on she moved forwaaarrrrddddddd…..as she started sliding across the floor which had apparently turned into an ice rink or something. Wobbling precariously Wookie loses the struggle and ends up ‘arse over elbow’ UK style! Scrabbling to get a hold Wookie rolls over, slides and staggers up only to slip back down again.Naturally the liquid soap sticks perfectly to every available part enabling a full coating of glitter to attach itself. After a couple of minutes of frantic stumbling around Wookie begins to look like a demented rainbow monster until she suddenly stops…relaxes….thinks…and slowly climbs to her feet. Carefully moving across to the sofa she is in sight of her goal but misses the skateboard she has just stepped on!
      Next minute there is a high speed glitter flash shooting around the room until Wookie is able to catch her balance. Actually this was a bit of an awesome ride so she goes around once more. Already Wookie is thinking where she can put some ramps up. Oh yes this is gonna rock!
      Robin ducks further under the table hoping to avoid being seen.
      “Oh Robin, I can see you!” Wookie yells laughing “c’mon try this out it’s nuts!”
      Robin is torn, does she stay under the table where it’s safer …or does she join Wookie and ride the speeding skateboard around the rainbow fallout area that was the blog?
      Then she remembers….where’s Logan…..oh yes this means war!😈🤣 LOGAN WHERE ARE YOU?

      1. Suddenly Robin woke up from her thoughts by one of the door handles moving! Yes! She wispered, and watched excited how the door opened and a surprised Wookie -and the whole atmosphere really -was showered with a fantastic cascade of glitter! With an amazing speed she started sliding about and appeared to do all she could to cover herself totally in glitter. Thats a bit confusing thou, -didnt think she liked glitter…🤔 Robin mused and laughed at Wookies surprised face .😁After that it all happened very fast and blurred, but it appeared like Wookie just took off like a rocket in the soaped room! Skilfully she went at supersonic speed all over the floor and possibly the walls and roof too… When Robin finally got it that Wooks was actually skateboarding- (where the heck did she get the skateboard???) And roaring something about ” trying it” ,she did not hesitate but jumped out from her hidingplace.. SURE WOOKIE I WANT TO TRYYyyyyyyyyyyyyy😳😳😬😬!
        Like Anja Persons winner-dance “the seal” Robin zoomed at her tummy at formidable speed SMACK! Into Wookie and her vehicle… Now Two glittering people zipped through the room ….

  26. Carrie skipped into the blog through the back door, holding her second batch of magic cookies. As she flung the door open she was momentarily shocked as a puff of glitter surrounded her. A loud yelling brought her attention to the antics taking place. A ball of glitter made it’s way at top speed towards her, with no indication of stopping. Rooted to the spot, Carrie had nowhere to run and nowhere to place her scrummy cookies. As the glitter ball got closer, Carrie could make out two arms and legs, few…..it was only a glitter monster…… ahhhh did she just say MONSTER. Finally the monster got close enough to grab Carrie and her cookies and pull them along for the ride. As she stubbled and skidded along Carrie’s legs lost all grip as she came realised the floor was too, slippy, slidy and sticky… clinging back onto the Monster who Carrie had come to the realisation, that it was only Wookie in a super cool outfit. Carrie lost hold of her cookies as they flew through the air and planted themselves into the glooey floor. As Wookie steered around the cookies and onto, up and over her makeshit ramps and Carrie slipped and slid along attacted to Wookie’s now firm grip, Wookie shouted out in the direction of the table and chairs. There was Robin mysteriously hidden beneath a table with what Carrie noticed was her first batch of Magic Cookies… Carrie hoped she had only had ONE of those…. shouting out in agreement Carrie tried to persuade a unsure Robin from her cave of safety to join the ride.

  27. //Awesome ladies!//

    Having Robin riding shotgun and surfing on the back of the skateboard Wookie managed to grab hold of Carrie and her cookies as she came through the door.
    Totally pleased wth the ramps she had been able to set up Wookie took them all on a superspeed circuit, the yells and screams echoing around the room.
    “We need some LOUD music ” Wookie yelled as they took off over a long ramp flying through the air and landing on the slope down to the kitchen heading towards the door before a quick flick of her foot sent the skateboard and crew zooming back around the course once more!
    “Any ideas?” Wookie yelled again……🏂

    1. Entering the back door to the kitchen, EM dumped the bags of supplies on the counter.
      Jaysus! I’m fect……coffee first….
      Grabbing a coffee she spotted something on the counter……oooh cookies!!! Don’t mind if I do…😀😀

      1. Swallowing the last of the cookie, EM became aware of a commotion. She could hear the yelling but couldn’t quite distinguish who the voices belonged to. They sounded muffled and what the feck was that buzzing in her ears?
        “C’mon Donkey….Let’s go see.who’s here…..”
        Standing up….Em felt positively floaty……oooh coool!!!!
        Grabbing the bag of cookies and taking a bite of a second cookie, she wandered up the hall towards the noise batting away the imaginary fly buzzing round her head……
        Arriving at the door of the other room, she stopped and stared….then broke into a grin…..ooooh look Donkey! A disco….with disco balls and everything…..!!…😂

  28. // stepping away from the apparent revival of “Saturday Night Fever” I just wanted to say sorry for the lack of input from myself. What with the preparation for packing (decisions, decisions, what to take , what to wear…) travelling, obviously having checked the pilot’s credentials and whether they knew the way all right plus my inevitable offer to help fly the plane …. faster naturally!…. and finally landing here in Utah , I have been a tad busy.
    Next dealing with the 7 hr time difference and the fact it is a smidge warmer here (I’ve definitely blended in perfectly, now I’ve taken my sweater off!!) 😂 I’m hoping to get back on track with the glitterati that a certain brat from this fine country so kindly put on the blog….. 😈. So normal service will be resumed ASAP! 😁 //

  31. Happy to hear you guys are together now in Utah surely stuffed with blueberry pancakes! 😋 And Im sure you hijacked… i mean borrowed the joystick from the pilot for a while. I think the super sonic boom was heard all the way to here…😂
    Im looking forward too to jump on that sparkly skateboard again asap. Appearantly i m on some magic muffins making all that ” stayin alive” go all in strong back beat reggae… 😂 sorry had to take a break too bcause of hectic workload. But i hope to be back soon too.😁

    1. Thanks Robin and yes it’s great being together. I do believe there may have been a few blueberry pancakes yes! (Hell yes!!😁)
      Actually the pilot was very happy to let me fly the plane particularly as I wouldn’t be able to sing all 100 verses of ‘The Wheels on the Bus go Round and Round’ over the tannoy to the passengers! So pleased you heard me 😂
      We will definitely return to the skateboard games without fail too.
      Hope all is good with yourselves and the work Robin. See you when you can make it! 😁

Spotting Em at the kitchen door Wookie yelled out “Watch it Em, the floor’s slippery and you could….noooooooo!” watching in fascination as Em, deciding to join the party, started waving her hands “in the air like you just don’t care” and stomping around to the obviously imaginary music only she could hear moving further into the room and now singing at the top of her voice “Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Stayin’ aliiiiiiiivvvvvvvveeee” as she hit the soapy floor and slid and slid and slid all around the room.
    “Remarkable balance ” Wookie thought as she watched EM freeboarding (Author’s note: Skateboarding only without the skateboard!) superbly!
    “Uh oh! she’s wobbling, she’s gonna go!” yelled Robin who had also seen the display. Carrie who was still hanging on for grim death saw a spare skateboard coming up, ‘could she get it? Oh what the hell” Closing her eyes and hanging on with one hand she leaned out, hooked the skateboard with her other and flipped it over behind her hoping Em would see it.
    Robin saw the board spin over and managed to kick it up and back again with her foot causing it to land right in front of the wobbling trouper.
    Seeing her chance Em gulped and jumped forward….landing on the skateboard and desperately trying to get her balance.Her hands flew out in an attempt to steady her just as she shot past the door which whacked the bag in her hand causing the cookies to fly out and land on the sticky floor soon dissolving into the gooey, glittery mess! Em soon had her balance and decided to race the others….. cos naturally she was gonna win!…..
